Dear Pennyroyal

I’ve never thought of jewelry as trophies. I’m here to take care of it and love it, for we are only temporary custodians of beauty.

Our Work

Dear Pennyroyal is a collection of jewelry using hand restored antique and vintage materials that capture bygone sparkle, whimsy and glamour.

By working with antique and vintage materials, our pieces enable the wearer to carry the forgotten magic moments into the present, putting their personal and emotional imprint on something that can live on not only through their lives, but can be passed down to future generations. They echo the past, are reborn in the present, and with you have the opportunity to live on in the future.

Style & Quality

Each piece of jewelry is handmade with great attention to detail and construction.

All of our settings, findings and chains are American made brass, and our earring findings are lead, nickel and cadmium free, hypo-allergenic and safe for sensitive ears.

Every material that we use has a history, and we research the design, era and origin of them so we can share the information with you. It's very important to us that the history of our materials is given to further the understanding of how delicate and cherished they once were. If we're lucky enough to have the personal history of a piece we restore, you'll get that information too! It's pretty fantastic to find out about the person who once wore something we work with!

With our jewelry you can be certain that your are wearing a one of a kind piece that cannot be duplicated. Whether it's a gift for a loved one or for yourself, you can be certain that nobody else will be sparkling like you or the recipient!

100% Handmade

Artist Katherine Hershberger has been hand-crafting jewelry for 20+ years. She prides herself on quality craftsmanship, uniqueness, and ease of wear.

She works from her home studio in Cincinnati, Ohio, with her supervisor (Varda, pictured above right).

Dear Pennyroyal was born in June of 2012, after a long internal debate on whether or not to continue in the business world working for someone else, or following her heart and working for herself. She chose the latter, and has never been happier or fulfilled with what she does. She owes her decision to a fortune cookie she got after dinner one night:

"Doing what you love is freedom. Loving what you do is happiness."

In her spare time she enjoys cross stitching, guitar, karaoke and cuddling with her four spoiled kitties and one handsome puppa. She also makes a mean Spanakopita!
